Poorly cat and a transatlantic move - what to do?

Cat is nearly 13 years old and we're having a few problems with her. Over the last year she's got a bit lazy with her poo/wee - just going on the grass outside. Then it got a bit worse and she keeps doing it on the door mat inside so we got a litter tray, but if the mat is down at night, she'll poo on it. Yesterday I noticed she was pooing loads but only little bits and vomitting bile. She;'s lost loads of weight and isn't herself. Today I saw she had poo all over her fur so took her to the vets. Vet given me 2 lots of antibiotics (1 is for campila-bacta (sp!)) and cat is now isolated in a room on her own in case she's a health hazard!!! Got a 4yr old and a 4month old.

I know if it was up to DH, the £60 vet bill wouldn't have gone on pills but lethal injection (he can't deal with the poo!).

I love her but I feel bad cos I don't have time for her and having poo all over the house isn't great wiht little ones. The other complication is we are likely to be moved to US in a few months. Is it fair to drag her all that way? It would be really stressful for her.

What are the options - rehoming? Rescue shelter? Put her down????

Never had to do this before so any thoughts welcome

I would definitely not take her on a transatlantic flight - it would be extremely stressful to her, and chances are that if she's becoming incontinant (sp?) then it's likely you wouldn't have that much longer with her anyway.

I would look to rehome her, but tbh given her age and state of health you may struggle to find a home for her.

She sounds quite ill so the flight may be too much for her and she is old too.It may be kinder to put her to sleep if she doesn't make a full recovery but if she does rehome her

That's kind of what I was thinking. There's a rescue shelter in the next village to us that would take her. They seem really nice (or so they say on their website!). I'll see how she does over next few days. We're due to go to stay with parents on fri for a week and cats are going to the cattery. Not sure what to do about that ...

If we do go to US then parents would never forgive me for not going to see them for sake of a cat (and I have to say I agree with them)
