dh just said 'we'll have him'. lol. i raised my eyebrows at him for that!

scatterbrain · 03/01/2007 11:24

Can't you just keep baby and doggie apart ? Would only be until baby big enough to fight back !

I couldn't get rid of my dog - not unless it was for allergy reasons.

madmarchhare · 03/01/2007 11:24

I thought you were. I think we are fairly close.

trace2 · 03/01/2007 11:28

madmarchhare, how did you know where i was?

scatterbrain i would have thought of this but hes had run of house and i dont want to stop him now and our house is only tiny, so he would be locked in one room.

am going out now ill check later

If you have decided definitely on rehoming him, you're right not to put him in the paper (or online equivalent). I would ring one of the breed rescue societies for advice - they often have fosterers around the country so he would not need to go into kennels.

Is he a King Charles or a Cavalier King Charles? (Just that they have different breed rescue societies). Numbers below.

can i ask you a few questions, then i might have a chat to DH about this.

  1. You have a child already - is the dog good with him?
  1. Is he yappy/barky/jumpy?
  1. Have you had him since being a puppy?

I would seriously consider ways of preventing the baby accidentally being smothered. You could use a baby swing rather than a floor height chair for the baby when he or she is resting during the day. When I had DS2, DS1 was only 13 months, and I couldn't turn my back on them, as DS1 was prone to hitting DS2 and throwing toys at him. (Too young to know any better.) When I had to leave the room, I used to put DS2 in a playpen with a safety net over the top. What about something like that? Or, do you have a relative or friend who could take him for a few months, until you feel more confident about the baby? You could still see him regularly. Sounds like PussyCatMomma would do this for you. It would be a shame to rehome him permanently. He sounds like a lovely dog.
