Cat fleas

My two cats are jumping with them, DD is miserable with all the bites, and they seem to be resistant to Frontline. Anyone recommend any products which do the trick?

Ive always used 'Advocate' on my animals and never had a single flea. I get it from the vets.

It can take a while to get the little blighters under control. And quite a bit of work. Have you treated the house, and vacuumed in every nook and cranny? The lifecycle of fleas is mostly off the host cat (eggs, larvae, pupae and then unfed adults lurking waiting to jump on). Also, with it being a warm summer, the fleas will be able to continue their life cycle outside, so your cats will continue to be re-infested with new ones from the garden, and the entire flea lifecycle can be as short as two weeks. So you do need an adulticide to work well for a month. You could combine with a product that stops any future eggs from developing in your house (nice to know). But really the all the vet treatments should work; ask them for advice regarding changing to something different! Hope you've sorted something already :)

We've currently got a flea problem too; you have my sympathies. So far the cat has been treated with a flea collar & flea drops from the vet (can't remember the name but I'll check tomorrow). You're also meant to comb the cat with a flea comb to get rid of any eggs.

I've also treated the house with this and this. After you have hoovered every where empty your Hoover bag as they live in there.
You can use the spray outside but it's harmful for bees. It's our first flea problem in 10 years & I'm the only one who's been bitten! Hope it clears up quickly for you.

They get immune to Frontline after a while. Go to the vets and get Advocate. Take lots of money Sad

Guyropes · 23/08/2015 15:43

How much hoovering is necessary too get rid of them when you have no animals in the house?p

I think Spot On is the stuff I used last year.It was brilliant.

GamerCh1ck · 23/08/2015 15:52

Advocate here.

Please don't use a flea collar unless you're putting it in the Hoover bag.

I feel your pain OP having a similar problem - is it a 'good' year for fleas or something? My feet and ankles are covered in bites, thankfully they don't seem to find DS tasty! Cat has been front lines (works on her) and I've just changed all the bedsheets and am about to hoover. I've been flea combing cat every evening when she's on my lap too. Hoping we'll get on top of it!
