...I posted that she had breathing problems and yesterday was diagnosed with asthma. I would like to hear from people that own cats that have asthma but are doing well as he made me feel very negative about it. However been reading on internet that as long as the treatment is good, they can enjoy a good life??? Please no sad stories-I can't handle it

Thats really good news.

How much was the inhaler and the treatment to use with it? Did you get it from your vet or a supplier?

I had decided not to get an inhaler for my cat but maybe I should try...

The spacer devise was £17

Ventolin £10 (lasts about a month apparantly)

Flixotide £88 (lasts about 2 months, haven't picked it up yet on account of the price!!! I nearly fell off my chair when they phoned me!!!)

Hi again Edie

Have been investigating the spacer devise on internet and am being quoted £55.00 and I think that is without meds - Obviously I need to check with my vet before purchasing which meds will be best for my cat but where did you get yours from??

Tan we use a peadiatric inhaler (ie for human babies) which is obviously so much cheaper. Its ok but because it is shaped to fit a babies' face, it does leave a bit of a gap on my cats' face. However the aerokat costs 50 approx quid and that is designed esp for cats so probably would be slightly better. We may get that eventually but at the moment don't really see the point.

She now has two inhalers and is getting on very very well. She will just sit and take them, she evens seems to inhale the stuff it's pretty amazing. Vet was pretty surprised.

She is still on oral steroids every other day but will come off them soon.

Good luck xx

Aagh I see!

It was the Aerokat that I was looking at - that will probably be best I guess. Great that your cat is doing so well with it

Hi all

Thought I'd share my experiences with you as a newcomer. My "little boy" Ben was diagnosed with feline asthma this year at age 7. it all started with him nearly dying in Dec with most of his organs failing - I admitted him initially with furballs!! he always used to be sick which i now know was coughing! he has had tests, bloods, x-rays till they are coming out of his ears and now is on 3 tablets a day (kidney, bronco dilator and steroid) he rattles bless him!! I have to say he has gone from being the most wild cat to a submissive well behaved boy happy to take his tablets so let this be an inspiration to others!!

Tried the aerokat this week for the first time and he is great with it, hope we are coming to the end of the roller coaster with him! lucky he is insured - bill is at over 3 grand so far) cats are tough creatures it seems....
