We have a lovely little cat - now aged 6, which we got 5 years ago from the RSPCA.

When DD was born 3 years ago cat started licking her tail and made the back of it bald. However this stopped and all was well.

But last bonfire night she started to lick again and is now bald on inside of all 4 legs, over nipple area and back of tail and small patches on her back and continues to wash. The vet has confirmed it is a nerves problem and she can be treated with some sort of tranquiliser to calm her down - has even found us a great price of £5 a month.

However dont want to drug the cat and wondered if anyone else had experienced this and solved it without medication.

We have another baby due in December and worry she will be a 'hairless pet' as the cold weather approaches. Our other cat remains unfazed and grumpy.

She's never been a cuddly cat but will come and sit by you in bed for a fuss - basically she likes things on her terms. She's a good hunter and playful when she wants to be. DD can be over-affectionate but we have given the cat some refuges and let her go wherever she wants. She has even let DD start to stroke her, and will sit there for ages while she does so I dont think DD is a problem. But another baby may be expecting too much.

Am very fond of my cat and could not bare to say goodbye - we aready rescued her once!
