Both dog and kitten have fleas. I gave them both a dose of Frontline 2 weeks ago, and sprayed the house with speacial spray from the vets. We still have fleas. Would it be ok to give them another dose of Frontline????

No - if its the three monthly stuff I would not give another dose unless specifically told it was ok by the vet.

I had this problem (excercabated by the fact cat 2 seems to be allergic to every bloody flea treatment on market), and found once I resprayed my house the problem disappeared within a couple of days.

Are you following the instructions on the spray to the letter?

I concentrate on getting rid of them from the house rather than the pets - they still stick around to feed off you even if frontline etc has worked on pets.

We are - we have been doing it for years and never a problem, but this time the little critters are everywhere.

Don't think it's a good idea. The chemicals could kill the kitten. (I've never had a pet dog, so not sure, but wouldn't do it anyway.)
Our kitten had fleas when we bought him home, but he's sorted now, having had treatment (like frontline) applied every month for 3 months.
There are terrible stories, one of which I read on the net, where the owner had brought a can of spray, sprayed it on her kitten and the kitten had collapsed and died immediately.
I know its a pain, but really, the instructions are there for a reason.

Have you been using the same spray everytime cos they can become immune to it I think.

Jazzi · 21/09/2006 12:28

Ok - thanks everyone, will keep spraying and see what happens.

Have you tried a flea bomb/Flea fogger?
You may be killing them on the animals but they still live in carpets, between fl;oorboards etc the little buggars!
Bob Matrin do a flea fogger, like a small spray can, but you put it in the room, activate and evacuate...then open windows after a hour or so, then vaccuum etc
They seem to work for us - we got home from holiday in July and house was infested! Flea fogged the main rooms and sprayed the rest.

We had a major infestation about 10 years ago. Living in the countryside and cats bringing in a daily haul of rabbits rats and mice. Nothing shifted them and we ended up getting the council to fumigate the whole house. The problem was solved straight away. Think it cost about £30. If it was a council property it would have been free I think.

If it is the frontline spot on not the spay you can safely apply it every 2wks

We had an infestation a couple of years ago on a return from holiday. I wanted to shave every cat in sight (relax! I didn't do it!).

I got the spray from the vets (and the Frontline for the pudd). I STILL found the little b*stards days afterwards. The vet said just keep hoovering, its the eggs hatching but they won't live. A couple of days later, nada, breathe out.

Hope you get some relief. These pets don't know what we have to put up with

We had a horrendous infestation a couple of years ago despite the cats being on programme. I tried every spray powder and bomb/fogger on the market in the end the only thing that sorted it was having thecapret ripped up and wooden floors put in. Fingers crossed you sort your's out more easily.

hi - put garlic in your animals food - the fleas dont like it and so wont go near the animals - this can be done alongside frontline x
