Limping puppy - please help

Hi

I hope someone can help ...

My 4-month-old puppy has developed a limp. Its not hugely pronounced ...just a little hobble.

It has only just started today and there hasn't been an obvious trigger. She has been in and out of the garden so I thought that maybe she had trodden on a stone?? But the limp seemed to disappear for a bit and then came back a little later although its not as though she had a sleep or anything inbetween - i'm very confused.

I have checked her pads and i can't see any obvious problem, i have felt down her legs and she gave no reaction to say that any part was hurting, although she has been chewing a little bit at her paws - maybe this is related??

The vets are shut (i rang for advice) but they have an emergency surgery tomorrow. Do you think i should take her to the emergency surgery or isn't this classed as an emergency? I'm not convinced it is, as although there is a definite limp there, she shows no signs of being in pain. So, my next question is, how long would you leave it before getting it checked out?
Any ideas what it could be?
Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hope someone can help - thanks in advance

BNS xx

She may have stood on a stone or something sharp and have bruised the soft inner pads of her paw - if she is licking it, then there is clearly something worrying her - could also be a small thorn or a nettle sting of sorts-
But, if she is not in obvious pain and not distressed, I would wait and see what happens this evening and tomorrow.
If she is still limping on Monday, then it may well be worth a little trip to the vet - or at least a phone call. Hope she gets better.

Hiya

Thanks for your replies

Well, i'm glad i held off from the emergency vets - she was still hobbling a little on Sunday but by Monday morning was as right as rain!! So, i have no idea what the matter was ...but thankfully she is now fine

Thanks again
xx

Glad to hear everything is okay - it may well have been a slight bruising or a small thorn or something that she managed to get out on her own -
