Please tell me that there is no way that ds can have a duckling as a pet because I am starting to come round to the idea

Well, Milly Molly Mandy has one, so why not?

We have not got a farm, or a big back garden. But we are near the river and ducks do like it round here - our neighbours at the back have adopted three wild ducks who live in their garden most of the year round.

Please tell me why it would be stupid and bad, or I will end up getting one

ducks are shitty psychos and scragged our hens constantly. They need more space than you can offer, just dont go there .

a chicken is quite territorial and contrary to all the jokes never crosses the road.

get a chicken, who wants to be like milly molly mandy whoever she is

I had two ducks when I was a child called Posey and Possum and they were great buddies to me. But its true - duck shit gets everywhere! and they are a lot of work to look after and they wreck the garden - but they are so lurverly. I had them from when they were 2 weeks old and they were very tame. Used to follow me everywhere and sit on my lap

But dont get them if you want a garden or mind doing loads of work.

We have 3 giant African land snails as pets. They are very low maintenance

we bought some small ducks a few back and all is going well. Their poo is much smaller than our chickens, and they are so cute!!

Also have chickens, baby chicks, and 4 pygmy goats.

btw they are 2 mandarins and 2 carolina ducks. Very small and pretty.

go for it, but get a pair.

I used to have 2 khaki campbells which are quite small ducks but good layers. They were brilliant, really fun characters who kept our garden free of nasty slugs etc. They don't actually need water to swim in (although they enjoy it)as long as they have a constant supply of drinking water for digesting their food.

Their poo did stink though! Also we were lucky that our neighbours loved the ducks as they could be quite noisy at times (we tried to be considerate by letting them out later in the morning at weekends) but if you have miserable neighbours it may not be worth the hassle.
