Stop neighbour's cat coming into our home?

Our neighbour's cat keeps coming into our home, any time the back door is open onto the garden, and even today through a tiny window into my baby girl's bedroom while she was asleep.

We don't have any pets and have never encouraged this cat, apart from my kids saying hello when it's in the garden (we share a garden with the cat's owner), so I don't know why it comes in.

We can't keep the windows and doors shut all the time, specially with warmer weather on the way.

I'm particularly worried about it going into my little girl's room as she's terrified of animals and it would set us back so far in her overcoming her fear. I also don't know how healthy or otherwise this cat is, apparently it was a stray that our neighbours took in a few months back.

Any suggestions of what we can do??

Get a dog? Some people! Seriously, try a few squirts of water. I`ve heard it works!

Have you tried a sonar cat repeller?

We use pepper and shop-bought cat repellent to dissuade the wretched cat that insists our garden is its toilet, but not sure how that would work with one so bold and wanting into your house.

Will give that a go, thank you.

Hi there. I appreciate this isn't acceptable to you at all. I own cats and two years ago they kept wandering into out next door neighbours house where there were two tiny children and a baby.

Two things seemed to work to keep our cats out and we were perfectly happy they should employ both!

1/ Chilli powder sprinkled along the ledge of their back door and on outside window sills

2/ A water spray and a loud hissing sound to go with it!

Our cats soon got the message and no harm done!

Also, regarding using your garden as its toilet........ask the cat owners if they would mind turning over a fresh patch of earth in their own garden and placing some of their cats poop in it. Thir cats will then do most of their toileting there. Other neighbours of ours read this somewhere and asked us to do it. It worked a treat!

(Hoping all our neighbours dont hate us!!!)
