how would you go about getting some kittens?

we used to have two lovely cats, that we kind of inherited by accident. Now they're gone, I'd like to get 2 new ones. I'd quite like to get kittens - dds would be over this world and I'm not working all of September so will be at home to settle them in. I'm kind of thinking about a breed - rather than a standard moggy - one of our others was a beautiful Siamese - lovely but possibly a bit too demanding. Anyone know which breeds make good pets and how to find a good breeder? I rather like British Shorthairs - anyone know anything about them?

Cant you get some from a rescue home?

My sister had a birman which was v gorgeous and nice natured. Pretty cheesy photos but looks like a good site for checking out different cat breeds.

you want to see cheesy photos? check this out. I'm not sure I can bring myself to buy a cat off this woman but I might have to!

the Birman's look nice. I'll check out rescue places too but I think I'd like to get direct from a breeder.

My feeling is that there are far too many cats, like dogs, in desperate need of a good home to go buying them from a breeder. I would recommend you talk to your local vets or rescue centre.

i too feel that there are too many kittens and cats needing good homes without people breeding them. i got 2 rescue kittens a month ago and they will both be off asap before they can mate!! please try a rescue centre, cats protection league or somewhere.

ditto amandaP & nicm.
tho other advantage of moggies is that they are hardier and less prone to infections etc. Also they don't need the specialised diets that some pedigrees require. They are also just as beautiful as pedigrees, speaking as the proud mum of a huge & gorgeous ginger tom and a skinny little black menace who brought a slug in last night and left it on the rug
