Our cats roam freely around the house and most of the time sleep on our bed. When baby arrives, do I need to lock them in another part of the house, or would a net over the crib/cot suffice?

I put a net over the crib but actually my cat was great. Playy it by earwith yours to see how it goes.

when ds was newborn our two cats avoided him diligently (he screeched in their presence...nasty nasty baby!!!) they stopped coming into our bed room at night becasue "it" was in there!

Now they are both very tolerant. We keep his nursery door closed to stop them getting fur all over his bedding. Have only ever caught a cat in bed with him once, and was lying next to him, not on him.. If he is asleep on my lap occassionaly one or othe rcat will come and oin us, bit of a squeeze, but fine with me.

thanks for the responses. I'm sure they'll be OK too and will prob run away when it cries - especially our boy cat, who runs away now at the slightest noise!
