my cat is usually very anti-social.she doesnt let you stroke her, unless she comes to you and lets you, shes not the sort to lay happily purring on your lap,and shes constantly having a go at the dog.
she doesnt usually bring anything home with her,but yesterday she brought the biggest bird (big and black and the size of a seagull) home.dh managed to get the bird off her and it did fly off,but only into a neighbours garden (think it had a damaged wing)
cta looked miffed with a mouthful of black feathers and wandered off again, only to bring another bird!!this time it was small,dh said the size of a robin.again,he got it off her and it flew away (flew onto the roof to recover)
tea time,dh had gone off to put fires out,and the kids started screaming in the kitchen.my pretty puss had only gone and brought a sodding rat in!!!it was dead, thank god.dont think i couldve coped with a rat running around my kitchen!!
she plopped it under the table, the kids were all stood on the chairs screaming and i had to get a dustpan and remove it!!
what is wrong with my mog?she never brings anything home (apart from a couple of field mice ages ago but she sat and ate them in the garden!!)
i know its presents, but id prefer a box of chocs or flowers tbh!!

How old is she? Does she have a bell on her collar? My boy only brings presents occasionally but the girl is always bringing something in. Normally dead but someyimes alive

My Mum told me a theory once and I have always followed her advice following a day like yours....it may be complete pants but she reckoned that if you ignored or punished the cat it hadn't done well enough for you and would go out to get you another "present" in an attempt to please you.
So,theory is,always highly praise the cat for it's very generous gifts....
Sounds crackers but after day like yours.....

My cat used to have 5 bells and still he brought gifts home, generally live birds, baby rabbits and once a very small dog.

My dads cat used to bring home alsorts, he once brought and plonked in my then 18 month old sons lap a 2 foot long, live adder. You have never seen me move so fast, to grab my son.

I was going to post what iwishicouldgiveupwork posted - your cat is just trying to impress you so give her lots of praise and hopefully she'll stop!

hi guys,i did praise her, through gritted teeth though i said "oh thank you so much pheobe!"
shes around 4 we think, she was a rescue cat so they never had an exact age for her.
she brought in a lizard not long ago!ds1 loved it and wanted to keep it,shed eaten its tail, but dh has a friend who keeps them,he took it and soon after its tail grew back (amazing,it only took a couple of days!the day she ate it,and hour later, you could see the new one starting already!)
she hasnt brought anything else it yet,but im terrified she will!!she had a go at a bird again this morning, fresh feathers in the garden, but dont knwo where she is now.
she has got a bell, but clever little minx fills it with mud!dont know how,but every day its filled!!!clever puss!!

my bring me frogs, usually into the bedroom at about midnight then wake me up to show me. Cue SJ leaping around bedroom in pursuit of frog with cats hopping anxiously at me trying to remove their treasuer.

Have you ever heard a frog scream???
I had absolutely no bloomin' idea they did until one of my cats brought one in and was tormenting it in our downstairs loo-I kid you not it sounded unbelieveable-I've heard baby rabbits scream but this frog was something else.

PMSL at the small dog though.

Have I heard a frog scream? Have I? Yes - regularly - can do bloody impersonations of the damn things. They're like bloody aliens and if my cats bring in another one, its off to the cat protection league for them. (Cats not frogs)
