Only if it isn't my sofa

cupcakes · 24/02/2006 18:47

not at the moment - he is a puppy and we are trying to train him not to. There wouldn't be room for us on the sofa if he was there too!

katetee · 24/02/2006 18:48

Yes definitely, shes a two year old lab who thinks she's a lap dog and loves a cuddle!!

Easy · 24/02/2006 19:16

Yes, it's part of what dogs are for.

But mine is a tiny spaniel. My sister has 3 Border Collies who get wet muddy and smelly, and when they come into the house it's revolting, plus there is no room on the sofa for humans.

So it depends on what dog, how many and what their usual habitat is.

CountessDracula · 24/02/2006 19:18

no

when she was younger she had her own sofa
Now she is only allowed in teh big leather chair

oxocube · 25/02/2006 17:34

No but the minute we go up to bed, he jumps on the sofa.

magnolia1 · 12/03/2006 12:52

Mine were allowed but we have just got new leather sofas so now they are not allowed which is soooo confusing for them Sad

The 16 month old dog wits till we are not looking and then creeps up really quietly Shock

They are learning though and the puppy hardly tries at all now. We sit on the floor a lot now though so they can have cuddles.

tinyFox · 12/03/2006 12:58

Yes my dog does sleep on the sofa next to me, i am on my own and she keeps me company she's my best friend and i love her to bits, she doesn't sit on it unless i can say she can. She's currently in her bed next to now. she has her operation on tuesday to get spade, gonna cry i know. i rescued her from a lady that was ill treating her. she's only small.

Blackduck · 12/03/2006 13:01

yes, on the back room sofas NOT on the one in the Living room (and he knows it...)

Feistybird · 12/03/2006 13:02

no

ntt · 12/03/2006 13:02

yes

LadySherlockofLGJ · 12/03/2006 13:03

Absolutely not.Shock

edgetop · 12/03/2006 14:03

yes all the time.

Squarer · 12/03/2006 14:13

Yes - by default.

When we first got him home, the cat didn't take too kindly to him so we used to have to keep him out of harms way - on our knees.

Of course, when it's your first dog, you don't actually realise that in 7 years time, a 27 kilo staffordshire bull terrier will come bounding through the room and land on your knee for a short nap, or nuzzle your elbow out of the way so he can get comfy.

Nbg · 12/03/2006 14:16

No.

He used to when we had our old sofa but we read that was one of the things that contributed to his seperation anxiety.

Plus I can't do with all the hairs and erm

"juice" he leaves behind IYKWIM Blush

Squarer · 12/03/2006 14:18

pmsl at juice nbg.

I can hear the screams of a thousand non dog owning Mumsnetters now!

Grin
Nbg · 12/03/2006 14:22

God it makes me gip.
It's truly revolting.

So needless to say, he has his own little bed next to the radiator.
