Lol, I need help on this too - I have a Jack Russell x, and he's 12. Any ideas?

Cutekids, howabout Tesco?

cutekids · 08/02/2006 20:42

is it a good policy?
last week, he got out and i don't know how i managed to get him back without causing an accident. thank god, he went for a pee and i grabbed his collar and ... literally...dragged him home! horrible to think what he'd have done if he'd tried to cross the very busy road he was next to. not only is he crazy, so's the traffic!our vet advised us to "just put a fiver a week away" which is all well and good but what if he caused an accident where someone else got hurt...GOD FORBID!?

We pay £11.99 per month with Norwich Union and are covered for most things for our Westie who's coming up to 3.

chickaboo · 08/02/2006 21:34

I pay £14 per month with M&S for our 3 year old cross, and that has no excess, we got petplan free for 6 weeks when we bought him then it was about £24 per month and £80 excess!! both companies paid out quickly with all the claims we have made.

Um Tesco aren't too bad. You'd be looking at about 10ish pounds a month (depending on size of dog, age, and where you live). I originally was told my dog was 3 or 4, so I got a quote from them, and it was £13, but I live in Swindon.

Here's a link

Enter in your details (you get discount if you do it online), and they'll give you a quote, and tell you what you're covered for. I think you're looking for 3rd party liability or something like that, where if he causes damage to someone else's property, you're covered. Tesco do offer that.

The only thing I'm not sure of is excess

TESCO ecxess is £60

Passionflower · 09/02/2006 10:19

Chickaboo, do M7S do the lifetime illess thing so if they get something that needs treatment for life they are covered?

Passionflower · 09/02/2006 10:20

M&S obviously, duh!

parkj83 · 09/02/2006 14:16

Well, £60 is a bit better than £80!

What's Direct Line like?

Do M&S take dogs over 8?

I'm having real trouble find companies that do. Except for E and L and MoreThan.

Problem is I've heard that E&L have good prices (from £9p.m for dogs over 8) but shoddy customer service, and MoreThan quoted me £18p.m with a £95 excess (and that's without any existing conditions, Dennis has bad teeth)
