Flea control suitable with baby around?

Argh! Very itchy! Me, that is.
We have no pets and I haven't recently been around any, bu have been getting bitten for a few weeks now. At first i put it down to garden insects as I've been out doing a lot in the spring...but last week I found a flea in the shower, urgh! And I thought that was it (DH killed it) but in hte last 2 days been bitten to pieces.

A friend used a flea bomb on their place but I don't know if that's OK with an 11-month old around? Any advice on what to use? From googling about I see fleas are hard to get rid of and you need to do a few rounds of battle!

We used a steam cleaner when our neighbours cat brought fleas into our house when our DS was newborn. The advantage is you can use it on carpets and bedding too and there are no chemicals. It was really successful and they never returned.

I was wondering about this as well. We have indoor cats but I've still seen fleas. Any advise on a good flea treatment for the cats? I've tried loads but no joy. Many thanks!

Sorry! I only just came back to this thread so it may be too late now - you can just steam clean the bedding too, we steam cleaned all of ours in the cupboard too. I think if I remember rightly we literally just sprayed it with the steam cleaner and hoped for the best. We had fleas upstairs and downstairs and it got rid of the lot. The steam cleaner is good because you can use the sprayer hose/nozzle bit to get into all the corners and under the furniture so none can escape!
