I have tried feliway doesn't work. I have put a litter tray down, didn't work. He has a catflap so can get out when he want and is often outside. The other day he jumped on to the table, lifted his tail and sprayed up the kitchen wall whle he was looking at me! He wees by the toilet in both bathrooms and I have caught him weeing up my sons bedroom wall. When he does it I lift him him up and put him outside.
He was given to me by this woman who had 3 dogs and 3 cats. Her dh made her get rid of him because he had sprayed but the vet said it was because he was surrounded by too many animals. He lived in a little crowded housse.
I have a big house which he has the run of and a big garden front and back and I have had him just over a year. I can't understand why he does it. Dh is starting to say he will have to go, however I am loathe to give up on him, he is such a character and the talking point of our road! Just don't know what else I can do? _ and blimey what a loud miaow he has!!

Siamese are notoriously highly strung cats, although gorgeous and brilliant characters! Has he been spraying since you've had him or has it started recently? It could be a new cat in the neighbourhood which is stressing him or perhaps changes in your house? Something which may seem relatively insignificant to us might be enough to cause a highly strung Siamese to spray!

He sprayed a little at first then he seemed ok for a few months. When he did it the other day up the kitchen wall he was next to the open patio doors.
I have a dog as well and they sleep together are great mates. Dh works aways on the rigs and when hes home there is always someone in the house. I wonder if its the changes there, that I am flying around with more to do and the house is empty more? although one or other of my 2 teenage ds are normally around.
He is like my shadow, am never in the house without him following me around. He even sits on the gate waiting for me to come home, bless him.

Yes they are usually very much a 'one-person' cat iykwim! What are you cleaning the areas he sprays with? It's best to never use anything with bleach in it, some water with bio washing powder dissolved in it would be good. You could maybe try some of those sprays that deter cats from spraying, you can get them in pets at home, I think one is called Get Off or something similar. It's really tricky breaking the cycle once a cat starts spraying! I'm assuming he's neutered?

Yes he is neutered. Some one told me to do it with bio washing powder which I have used but then he goes in a different place. Yes he def is a one person cat. If i take the dog round the block he comes with me. Have had various cats in the past but he is so different! Do you have one? x

No I don't, although I'd love a Siamese! Something for me to do when the dc are a bit older I think. I have 2 moggies at the moment!
I've heard stories about Siamese who poo in their owners slippers when they're annoyed or upset with something the owner has done!

longlashes · 01/04/2012 18:00

yeuck! well he certainly is different. I look out of my window and see people crouching in my driveway to get a good look at him. Also people tell me that he follows them when they walk past with their dogs. I thought some one might take him but so far he's been ok. He is called Simon (not my choice, was already called that). His posh name on his certificate when he was born is Quentin Fuzziepaws Grin.

Am Envy of Quentin Fuzziepaws. Get him chipped in case someone decides they do want to take him home!

Also was just reading back over your first message, it's maybe not a good idea to put him outside when you catch him spraying - he's almost certainly doing it because he's stressed or insecure in some way and 'punishment' will probably just aggravate it. Although I know it's really hard not to react angrily when you catch them in the act - I used to have a cat who was a terrible sprayer in the house!

veryconfusedatthemoment · 01/04/2012 19:42

Had to read a thread with Siamese in the title, but sorry no help on the spraying tho'. Could the vet advise any more?

I love Quentin Fuzziepaws! Gorgeous name!

I once had a cat who did this. He could also be aggressive. He was put on a course of female hormones which did the trick. He ended up on it for life, as the problem returned when we stopped it. Iirc it was a yeast based tablet twice a week (he loved them).
He became the most cuddly placid cat ever, as well as stopping the spraying.

mycatsaysach · 01/04/2012 20:00

Smile at siamese - i have one and they are terrible for this.i shout at mine when i catch him.don't know if it makes much difference.
sorry that's no help whatsoever is it.

longlashes · 02/04/2012 10:37

His name is great isn't it Grin. Maybe putting outside is wrong perhaps I should be more reassuring. I do worry that he sprays places I don't find, but normally I can smell it! He is chipped by the way bless him. At the moment he sitting on my sons motorbike in the son. What a dude!
