Any Hamster experts- warning, very sad.

DD just went to get her hamster out to clean the cage and she is dead. She is still and unresponsive. I know she is dead but don't want to risk burying her if there is the slightest chance she is still alive. What do I do?

Put her on the radiator, wrapped ina towel, for an hour. This will reassure you if she has not moved in that time that she is dead, and will revive her in the unlikely event that she is hibernating through cold.

They don't go stiff if they are hibernating do they?

did you try her in a very warm place, Scorpion?

mine did this when I was little,my mum put the oven on very very low,put my hamster on a tray and put her inside but left the oven door open,this helped me understand she was gone as she did not move

They can go a bit stiff. Worth a go at warming up.

On the advice of the vet we did some sort of resusitation, blowing air into the mouth I think. He revived for a short while but died later

dd's did this last year.i put her in my jumper and carried her around for a while occasionally rubbing the teeniest bit of water on her mouth.a year later shes still ok!

we had one come back to life in the grill when i was younger(no wonder im veggie!)

So, after sitting by the oven blasting hot air for ages and now putting her by a radiator when do I give it up?

Blimey-im worried now that ive buried living hamsters
DD;s dies a few months ago,she rang me to tell me at work,she was crying,then i cried.I was with a client at the time I tried to explain but ended up sounding worse.

We have decided to leave her in her cage in the warm kitchen covered by a blanket. She is cold and stiff so very unlikely to wake up. The children have accepted this and are moving on. It is only me that seems to be unable to let go.
