dog pee smell

Can anyone suggest the best solution for removing urine odour? Our dog constantly pees on one particular spot on landing carpet and I have tried every pet odour product going. I have even lifted the carpet and cleaned the back and underlay....yet there is always a lingering smell, hence the reason she continues to return to this place... Any suggestions welcome

I find 1001 products good, have you tried them?

Although our problem has always been cat not dog so with dogs noses being more sensitive it might be harder.

Best option For a long run is train them not to pee in the house! I know it sounds cruel but I had to put my Labradors nose into her pee when she was little and she stopped doing in the house Wink

I guess you've tried vinegar? I would try a slightly different approach, how about cleaning the spot then re toilet training your dog? Place a puppy training pad (they have a smell which make dogs want to pee on them) over the spot then slowly move it (1 cm per day, changing pads as needed until it is outside the door (assuming you have a dog flap) if it uses the carpet spot again start again and take it slower (1/2 cm every two days).
Please don't punish the dog- rubbing their nose in it, all they will learn is to make sure they do it when you're not around or that you are someone to fear. Good luck! Smile

Oh by the way, when training my puppy I has to tape the pads down or she'd play with them.

Please don't rub your dogs nose in his pee. It won't train him, it will just scare the crap out of him. It's a very outdated, cruel and ineffective training method.

For the smell have you tried biological washing powder and hot water?

Have you tried bicarbonate of soda? Just sprinkle it in the spot and leave to do its job, then Hoover it up after a few hours, you can put lavender or something nice smelling in with it too for added freshness Smile
