Mature cats needing a new home

Please help.....My mum unexpectedly died two months ago leaving two cats (a 14 year old black and white short hair and a 10 year old ginger long haired cat), both are neutered with lovely natures.
Finding a new home for these cats (ideally together, but would consider all good prospective homes even if new owner could only take one) has become a nightmare with cat charities suggesting I have them put down.
They are both hunters but have also always had access to my mum's house and were completely spoilt by her. Her house is in quite a rural location with no main roads, so a new home would have to be similar.
I wouldn't want them to go to a new home with young children as they have never been exposed to them and so wouldn't know how they'd react. They are both lovely animals but a bit long in the tooth to start having their tails pulled!
I am happy to make a sum of money available to the new registered vet of the cats to help with vaccinations etc.
I would loved to have had the cats myself but I have two very demanding Siamese who are indoor cats and am currently 10 days away from my first baby being born so not in the most ideal position!
I have spent the last two months ringing round cat charities with absolutely no luck. No-one seems to want older cats.
If you can help, or know someone that may be able to, please do let me know. I can provide lots more information and photos etc if needed.
Please also bear with me. This is my first posting and I'm bound to have some some mistake! xx

Oh you poor thing, sorry for the loss of your mum.
I really have no practical advice to give but feel for you when you have these cats to worry about after losing your mum and being so close to having a baby.
Hopefully someone more useful will be along in a bit and at least I'm bumping your thread for you.

Thanks so much Bamaluz.

Have you tried the santuaries as well as the charities??? Cats protection ? They wont put a healthy cat down- or so they say- real shame you are struggling- wish we could help.

hectorlion so sad to hear about your Mum. Sorry that I can't help with rehoming your cats (mine would have a fit if he'd to share the house with another cat or two and I have grandchildren regularly visiting), but I hope you find a new home for them soon. Also will mention it to any friends for you.

By the way, which part of the country are you in?

Thanks for your sweet messages. Have tried cat's protection and lots of sanctuaries. Some can offer kennels for the cats for a few months but this would really distress them. They are used to being very spoilt and having the run of a nice warm house! The cats are in Northamptonshire currently being looked after by extremely kind neighbours. I am in London.

Sorry to hear your news. If you are still looking for a home for your cats, please take a look at the website Rescue Review.co.uk which lists all the rescues/rehoming organisations but postcode, region, milage etc. I'm sure there will be one there to help you! Best of luck.
