Catloving home needed for rescue cat (S London)

My best friend found a cat badly hurt in her garden. Took him to a cat hospital / shelter where he has been patched up (two operations), made healthy, fully vaccinated, neutered. But they have asked for her to take care of him, as they already have 100's of cats in cages. She already has 2 cats (also rescue) who are not happy about new cat. If she can't find a home, he will have to go and live in a cage in the shelter, probably for ages.

I have seen this cat, and even though I am a well-known cat-hater, I think he's great! He's a light stripey ginger, with a very characterful face - sort of stick-out-sideways whiskery tigerish hair on his cheeks. He is sociable - he jumps up at the bars of his current cage (re-cuperating from a leg operation) and meiows at visitors.

Anyone?

ks, have you never seen a fat cat? Our cat has the biggest gut, it swings around when he walks. Also although cats do bury their poo, they are not always that accurate, so watch out when they come and sit on you afterwards... I love my cat, but he is a huge pain! On the other hand we can't have dogs as we aren't around during the day. I will be looking for a new cat soon, but as we are hoping to move in a while it probably wouldn't be a good move for us right now. Do you think this cat would be good company for a slightly soppy 14yr old (cat) who misses his sister (she died about eight months ago). I really worry about the introducing a new cat thing.

ROFL - have only just caught up with this development in the thread - v pleased to see it is a succesful blockbuster, now!

No, it is true, at the moment we are poised on a bit of a cliffhanger, and although the right illegally rescued cat will be SOMEWHERE out there for ks, I have to agree that this particular moggy matinee idol is not it.

I will be getting a full profile of the cat - and a photo - from my frend, and will still be seeking a home - but it is a cat with a difficult past, and may not be right for all.

But he will NOT be coming to live with me, and I INSIST on being H B-C!

Batters - the cat contracted FIV from a bite - here so is of greater risk of getting ill and causing family heartbreak to a small owner etc. I should have checked all this out with my friend first.

Blu, I would recommend that your friend contacts Foal Farm . They are a particularly nice animal rescue centre in Biggin Hill that have a policy of not putting down FIV cats. They do need special homes (no other cats, indoor life etc). We had a cat with FIV that died quite quickly after diagnosis, but I understand that they can live for some years, and Foal Farm have rehomed some recently. They seem to have fairly sensible home checks!

Sorry it didn't work out with this particular moggy.

Batters, you must get your stalking tendancies seen to!
