We took him in when MIL could no longer handle him, we have had him for about 2 years (he is nearly 8) he glups down food very fast, always on the lookout for more, then throws it up and eats it [puke] He eats anything he can get hold of, including cat shite from the litter tray!! [double puke] Then he throws it up!! He tries to throw up on the back of sofa, and when we grab him by the collar to get him off the sofa, he growls and snaps at us, he bit DH yesterday.
He was standing by me earlier, DS was laying on the floor and he just peed all over DS.
We can't leave him alone because he whinges and howls.
I have had enough of him TBH. He is lovely when he wants to be, but I am worried that he will make my kids sick, or worse, bite them.

You've taken a lot already, Spookly!

The puking alone would have put me off, not to mention the biting.

spooklymieow · 31/10/2005 19:32

I know, but if we were to get rid of him, and DH wants him gone NOW, where would I take him. He needs more than I can give him.

RSPCA shelter?

expatinscotland · 31/10/2005 21:23

That vomiting cat shite would be it for me, personally.

misdee · 31/10/2005 21:28

Call Kimpton in the morning.

allhallows · 31/10/2005 21:36

Time for doggie to move on.

Gem754 · 01/11/2005 13:26

If the RSPCA won't take him (don't get me started in them) then look in the phonebook for rescue centers in your area.

It sounds like a dominance thing to me but you can't risk him around the children if he's being unpredictable. A rescue centre may be able to get him into a foster home where they are able to adjust his behaviour - or may know a childless person who would be a good match perminantly.

Chloe55 · 01/11/2005 13:32

Would you be able to afford a behaviouralist? Sounds like habit over hunger really?

Mytwopenceworth · 01/11/2005 13:39

have you asked the vet for his opinion? could there be a medical reason for the vomiting? and he is re-eating it to get the nutrients? as to the non-food, kind of pica or equiv to PWS !!!!!!! vet must be able to advise, surely!

Mytwopenceworth · 01/11/2005 13:41

they say they wont take him, but if you walked into an rspca place and handed them the lead and then legged it to your car, what could they do??

Gem754 · 01/11/2005 13:48

Take you licence plate number and get the police to return your propety knowing them.

Mytwopenceworth · 01/11/2005 14:00

walk in there and say i found this dog........

Gem754 · 01/11/2005 14:06

I know two people who actually have found dogs and have contacted the RSPCA to be told they couldn't take the dog. One of them was actually told it was incase they were just trying to get rid of the poor beast.

spooklymieow · 01/11/2005 14:10

Today he just stood in my living room and peed everywhere We had to go to the tip and he had to come with us (can't leave him alone, people complain)and he whinged the whole jounery.

Mytwopenceworth · 01/11/2005 14:14

tell the rspca unless they take him you are going to have the vet put him to sleep because the health and safety of your children is at risk?

Mytwopenceworth · 01/11/2005 14:15

or what about that dogs trust place you see funding appeals for on the telly?

spooklymieow · 01/11/2005 14:16

LOl DS sponsers a dog from the Dog's trust.

Gawd, spookly! That sounds AWFUL! I've had retched myself. I don't know how you held it together. You poor soul! The smell must be awful. Got any joss sticks about?

Get rid as soon as.

sparklymieow · 02/11/2005 11:36

Have phoned the local resuce centre, they have put his name on the waiting list as they have a couple of problem dogs atm and can't take him. They are willing to take him though.
