Cats Protection Home Visit - What to expect?

I'm really nervous about my home visit!

What can I expect? Do they want a tour of my house? Do they want my children present?

Thanks Smile

They'll just talk to you in your living room, and will look to see if the area you live in is suitable for a mog. It's good for the kids to be present so she can see that they're not going to kill it.

Ours took nearly an hour and a halfShock !

Complete tour of the whole house, outside, gardens, every where.

Advice on blocking up fireplaces, a tiny gap at the side of fridge, and range. Children's toys that needed to go, windows that should be locked, ornament that could cause injury, pulleys at the side of window blinds that needed to be made safe, plants in the garden that should be dug up, "what are your neighbours like?", no sequins/ glitter, closed doors for DD's when playing with Sylvanian Families or Lego, and so it went on, and on, and on...

Goodness knows how we've managed to look after our DD's all this time :)

With us it was 10th mins in and out just filled out some paperwork.

Homecheckers want to see that you have a home which is safe for the prospective pet, which is not already secretly filled with other animals or things you haven't mentioned on your application form (no menagerie, no drug paraphanalia on the coffee table...!), meet the children so they get an idea of what they're like (not all will expect this, I certainly would), see the condition of other pets and how thsy are treated if you have any, advise on possible hazards and ensure they are rectified and generally get a feeling about the person who is adopting.

We don't care of you haven't done the washing up, we aren't there to judge the standard of your decorating, all we want is a caring, intelligent home for the pet, honest. :)

(I'm not a checker for Cats Protection, by the way, but an independent rescuer who homechecks for animals which I rescue and for other rescues too).

My son and his wife got turned down by cats protection because they lived on a bus route.
They got a cat from another source and it has never shown any inclination to go to the front of the house onto the road.
Much prefers the quiet of the back and side of the house.

Well, I am still waiting for the 3rd person to phone me to arrange it!

We have found a cat that isnt in our local branch and are viewing him at the weekend.

But, we live on a bus route and I am worried they are going to say no. The 2nd lady I spoke to seemed worried that we live near a road that you wouldnt call busy but is used IYSWIM.

Should I just give up now before I fall in love with the cat?
