She does sound like she's in pain

I'm sorry but squealing guinea pig wouldn't have me rushing to the out-of-hours vet. Am I hard-hearted? I'd make sure it has everything it needs, check it hasn't got some obvious problem etc.

maybe it's about to have babies?

Beauregard · 18/09/2010 23:37

It is diabetic so not in good health and the other one is ill tooSad
No chance of it having babies
God i can't stand to think of her suffering

Have you googled? Might be some guides to guinea pig care and some info about what it could be/what to do?

LastOrdersAgain · 18/09/2010 23:40

:(

Sounds like you may have to give them a ring. They may be able to ask a few questions over the phone first? I know ours does a phone back thing and we get to talk to someone about it, but then if they say bring her in, you can't then turn around and refuse.

Hope she is ok.

Beauregard · 18/09/2010 23:51

I think it is maybe when she has a wee that she squeals.I will call in the morning and ask.
Any idea what price roughly it will be?

sorry, but for any animal that was in pain like that i would bring them in.

GypsyMoth · 18/09/2010 23:56

God you can't let it suffer like that!!!!!!!

Come on......

neytiri · 19/09/2010 00:03

some vets do have a sunday surgery, might be worth ringing round before going to your usual vet. our cat lost about 4" off the end of his tail on a sunday morning, we were panicing about what to do, rang the vet to find out they were actually open between 11 and 1. we had to leave him overnight, poor thing came home the next day with a bald stub left! (they had to take away the damaged tail, we still don't know what happened to him Sad)

Beauregard · 19/09/2010 00:09

No need to be so harsh Dragonfly
I had already said i cant bear to see her suffer.I just needed some advice and yes if need be we will go without food shop this week so i can pay the fee.

Poor guineapig.
Is she drinking much? If she is squeaking when
she wees, perhaps it could be urine infection. Obviously you can't give her medication or cranberry juice but I wonder if they is a food she could eat that might help?
How old is she?

Just found this which might be useful?

Have you got a Pets at Home near you? They often have vet practices within them that are certainly open on Saturdays so possibly Sunday too.

silver73 · 19/09/2010 14:16

There is a brilliant gp vet in Hertfordshire that is open on Sundays until about 5 pm. They are Vets and Pets in Broxbourne and have a rodentologist around sometimes too maybe worth giving them a ring?

angelberry · 19/09/2010 14:18

I was going to suggest popping into a good pet shop...might get some decent advice.

Beauregard · 19/09/2010 16:46

Hi
Thanks so much for all the repliesSmile and the link ,i will read it.
Well she has been fine today no squeaking or anything and wolfing down her food etc so not sure why she was making that noise last night?
I will def take her tommorrow if she squeals again but fingers crossed she has been ok so far.
