A week last friday my eldest dog had to have an op to have two lumps removed.
She is almost 13 years old, she is a bit overweight but it is something that we are working on and have been for a while!!

She has had lots of tests etc before having her op and the vet said that she has never seen a dog, as old and with a bit of weight on them, with such healthy heart, lungs and liver. So DH and I were really chuffed by that news.

I took her to the vets today to have some stitches out of her elbow but they need to be in longer.

The vet has just called me to give me the results of the tests on the two lumps. The one on her flank was just a fatty lump deposit (had some big fancy name which I can neither say, spell nor remember)

The one on her elbow is a cancerous tumor (again with some big fancy name) the vet said she got all the lump out and said she will talk to me when we go in to have the elbow stitches taken out later in thr week.

DH is working, I am in tears. DH is gonna be devastated, not that I am not but that little doggy is his baby IYSWIM. I know some people will find it odd but she is such a lovely doggy.

DH and I ahve had her from being about 8-9 weeks old. She is bloody fab with kids, other dogs & animals, everyone. I do not want anything to happen to her. I know they all have to go eventually but still.
Our other dog is gonna be devastated.
Sad

I am literally sobbing my heart out right now.

I'm sorry I don't quite understand- it's ok isn't it because the vet got the cancerous lump out? Sorry if ice got the wrong end of the stick, I really hope she's ok x

My first dog got cancer, she lived for another two, very healthy years after being first diagnosed and operated on.

But I do understand how you feel and how worrying it is. I am still miss that dog. I grew up with her, literally. My father bought her for me for my second birthday, as a puppy and she passed away quietly in lap, when I was 15.

Try not to stress to much until you speak to the vet again.

Try not to panic. Easier said than done, I know. When vets remove lumps like this they tend to err on the side of caution and remove as much surrounding tissue as possible so there's a good chance all the cancerous cells have been removed. And her healthy heart, lungs and liver are great news.

Hope you get more details from the vet soon - call for a chat if you want: they'll be happy to speak to you about it.
