Any vets online? Need advice re wasp sting

My 12 week old pup got stung by a wasp near his nose/lip about 50 minutes ago.
His lip started to swell and he wouldn't 'let me touch him at all.

I put some ice on the outside of his lip and inside too. The lip has stopped swelling, actually it's started going down but still feels a bit harder than the other side.

His gums are still pink and he has eaten some treats and had some water. His breathing is normal and no frothing or anything from his mouth.

He is now fast asleep on my lap. I did phone 2 local vets but both are closed.

A friend is trying to contact her vet friend but I've not heard back yet. I'm worried about my puppy and so are dc. Is there anything we need to do. I have some piriton here but wouldn't know what to give him.

Tia

Hi kid, I replied again on the puppy thread, really I wouldn't worry, he sounds fine.

My old dog was a bugger for snapping at flying things and was stung on the lip a few times.

As I said on the other thread, its a bit like in humans really, you only have to worry if the sting was in the mouth/throat and the swelling could obstruct an airway, or anaphlectic shock. Neither of these seem to apply here, so I would just let him sleep it off.

our woofa decided to play investigate bees last summer and got stung quite badly Sad

his poor eyes shit, mouth and throat swelled and breathing got quite laboured Sad

he is a big dog, tho was only just 1, so still a puppy, and i couldnt get him into the car as refused (but granny has car trained him now lol)

i called our vet and he said to give 20mls 4 times a day - but he is 10.5 stone

If the swelling is anywhere near his throat then call the vet - they should have details of the out of hours emergency service and you should call that for advice if you have any doubts. They may be able to advise over the phone if you can or should give him anything, especially if you have any standard 4mg piriton tablets or piriton kids syrup about. Please talk to them first before administering anything though.

I'd never give him medication before speaking to the vets, especially as he has never had it before.

As it happens, the swelling has gone down, he has ate some lunch and has been acting just as he usually would so I am no longer worried, well not much anyway.

But I really appreciate any advice as he is my new little special puppy.

Cool - glad he is ok.

his lip is completely normal now and he is most certainly his usual mischevious self!
He likes nothing better than to nibbles toes, fingers, ears, hair and his favourite thing of all time is DH's chin!

I'm relieved he is okay though, he had me really worried for some time.
