Kitten soiling help needed please

I have a gorgeous kitten who is - i think - about 4 maybe 5m old. I am unsure as I am not sure how old he was when I got him due to his size at the time.

Anyway he took to the tray like a duck to water. However in the last 4 weeks he keeps soiling in the bath. His tray is clean, I remove him if i catch him and put him straight in his tray which is in the bathroom.

I have tried different litters and he still does it.

Any ideas/advice appreciated.

This is normally an easy one to solve! Is he your only cat? If not, you'll need at least one litter tray per cat.

However, if he's an only, the way to tackle this is to put the tray into the bath, where he normally soils. Leave it there for a few days, whenever you're not using the bath and definitely overnight. Also, try not to clean it as soon as it's used - I know it feels counterintuitive not to scoop asap, but he needs to know that it's ok to go in the tray. If you clean it up immediately, he won't be sure.

Once he's well-established at going in the tray while it's in the bath, move the tray back out to where you want it to be, by degrees. He'll follow the tray.

One last thing - if you have a covered tray, does it have a door? We always remove the doors on our trays because they can be really offputting for cats.

Let me/us know how he does! It's a lovely age.

Atten, he is an only cat and totally spoilt by me ds2 he sleeps on his bed etc so yes a lovely age except he can be spiteful!

I will put the tray in the bath tonight and see how we go.

Thankyou!!!
