Bee sting in dog's mouth - do I just leave it?

My dog has just eaten a bumble bee and is wheezing and whining - I'm pretty sure it is just because he has been stung near the back of his tongue (didn't get it out in time - bad owner) but is there anything I should look out for/ should I go to the vet?

I have a vague sort of childhood memory that you have to remove the actual sting when it is a bee but there is no way I am sucking his tongue to get the sting out and there is no way he is going to let me poke about at it with tweezers, not until my DH gets home to help hold him - he wouldn't bite, just wriggle his tongue constantly! I could give him a wee bit of milk, as a sort of alkaline?

Oh well, guess I'll have to call the vet then - bit embarrassed to as last time she asked: "what has he eaten this time." I do try and stop him but am constantly surprised by him, last time it was cotton wool which he had ignored for 2 years before deciding to sample.

Yes - do call the vet; and watch him carefully to see if he starts to swell up, especially bearing in mind where the sting is. One of mine reacts v badly to bee stings.

Don't feel embarrassed about calling them though; mine has eaten many, many things and I still call back.

Oooh - I've just seen the wheezing bit. Get him straight down there.

I would call the vet asap as swelling there could affect his breathing, poor doggie! and poor bumblebee !

Yes, I had a dog in the clinic that nearly died a couple of weeks ago after eating a bee. She was lucky though and is still here to tell the tale.
