I'm going on holiday for 3 weeks on Saturday and my sill offered months agouti have our dog. She has 3 dogs who are sensible and grown up while mine is still very much a pup. Since she offered she has increased her working hours dramatically and I am having serious misgivings about leaving our dog with her.

Can someone tell me not to worry please.

This is not unreasonable at all - it's perfectly natural to worry about him! Especially as he is still at that age where he is quite lively and you are worrying that he'll get on their nerves and they won't be very tolerant with him! But what's the worst that can happen? He gets an angry nip now and then? It might so him good - the laws of socialisation/dog etiquette and all that. On the plus side he'll have more company and more attention than in a kennel, so I'm sure he'll be fine.

Maybe you should have an arrangement where if he seems unhappy, or she's finding it difficult to cope she can take him at short notice to the kennel with your blessing? I'm sure she won't need to though.

You've got Precious First Born Syndrome with your dog!

I have definitely got dog pfb. I can swan off for a week without the ds' without a pang but I'm choked up about the dog.

I can't find a kennels I really like the idea of tbh, I was going to use Barking Mad but Sil wouldn't hear of it.

God I need to get a grip.

TBH, yes I would worry and I don't think YABU.

Depending on the working hours/possibility of having someone to come in/walk the dogs during SILs absence and so I, I think I'd be inclined to say thank you but look for an alternative carer.

Well ive just waved the little boy off. . Both of her adult children are home for holidays so I feel less concerned that he'll be without human company for any length of time.

My db is going to collect him and house/dog sit for me for the last few days.

Feel sick

Awww... I'm sure he'll be spoilt rotten with the additional humans to run around after him. Just you enjoy your hols!
