Cat grieving for his brother - what can I do

One of my 9 months old kittens got run over and killed yesterday - we're all absolutely heartbroken. He was gorgeous.
His brother is really subdued, and just mooches around the house looking for him. Tears flowing as I write. I guess we just have to give him extra cuddles, and he will get used to being on his own? We do have an older cat, but she sleeps all day and doesn't have much to do with the kittens.

We might consider getting another young cat, I suppose, in a month or two, does anyone have any experience of non-sibling cats getting on really well?

My cat grieved terribly when his brother died,he even ran away for a month. He did however get better and loved to cuddle up with my very loving other cat as he had done with his brother.I am sure you feel really sad now as its making me feel upset thinking back and it was years ago,but he will gradually get over it.If you use homoeopathy then out the remedy ignatia 200c in his water for two or three days,it realy seems to help.I'm so sorry your cat has gone btw.

I am so sorry to here about your cat. You must be devastated.

This happened to one of our cats three years ago. His sister did wander around looking for him for a few days, even though she'd licked his head as he lay in state in his box in the hall, and I thought she knew he was dead. It makes me cry to remember it even now.

Cats have shorter memories than people, so your remaining cat will be OK before you are.

I'm so sorry.
One of our cats was killed on the road at the beginning of June and we were worried sick about her sister. The surviving cat was the shy nervous one.
For about 2 weeks she kept calling for her and looking for her. She disappeared for 24 hours and came home exaughsted and starving.
After that she seemed to settle down and she is fine now. I was outside earlier and she was playinh hide and seek in the garden with one of my other cats.
