Trigger Warning-Animal cruelty inflicted on wolf in Wyoming

Trigger Warning very distressing story.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13295715/Wyoming-hunter-wolf-tortured-bar-killed-cody-roberts.html

This news story is just so upsetting and disturbing it will never leave me. A man from Daniel, Wyoming called Cody Roberts, reportedly ran down a young wolf on his snowmobile, wrapped duct tape around its muzzle, took it home, tortured it, then when he got bored with that hauled the badly injured animal to The Green River Bar to show off his catch, where, in between drinking beer, he posed for photos with the wolf, grabbing it by the scuff of its neck. Finally, he took the poor animal out the back of the bar and shot him dead. The consequences of his appalling actions? A mere 250 dollar fine from the Game and Fish Department.

This has shocked, disgusted and saddened me to the core. The thought of that poor wolf in a crowded bar, mouth shut tight with tape, bleeding and no doubt in agony, so, so terrified. How can someone treat an an animal this way? How could all those people in the bar, including the owners, just stand by and let it happen? How is it possible that this sadistic, depraved, brutal monster can get away with such cruelty and violence towards a living creature in public with zero repercussions apart from a paltry 250 dollar fine? This man is a danger to society and if he can do this in public, what is he capable of doing in private? Many people are quite rightly disgusted and horrified by this news and there is a petition for a higher penalty which you can find here. Please do sign. Disturbingly Cody Roberts has also had a number of supporters including his piece of shit aunt named Jeanne Ivie-Roberts who thought it'd be really cool to show her support to her nephew by posing for photos with the wolf's skin wrapped her and in one photo her mouth wrapped in duct tape. She must have got a real thrill mocking that poor animal. What does that make her? How do these people's minds work? These people absolutely no place within society and deserve to be locked up and left to rot. I hope there is a place in hell waiting for them.

This is the bit that rattles my mind.

I can kind of wrap my head around there being some deeply sick people out there. What I cannot understand is how many people were happy to see him do this and then happy to defend him afterwards. Seems like everyone in town just thought 'hey this is totally fine'.

Shooting wolves to protect livestock is one thing. I wish people didn't but also accept I don't live there and don't face those challenges. However, this isn't about shooting a wolf. This is something else - this is joy in pain, this is enjoying the thought of the suffering. And it seems to be an enjoyment shared by everyone there who was present, accepted it and went on to protect Roberts.

Changed my view of Wyoming, for sure.

That is utterly horrific. Beyond awful, and yes, so is Gaza.

I shoot through winter, I have gundogs and work them. My partner shoots too and it is what our life revolves around. Yes we enjoy it - we enjoy the skill required and strive to be the very best we can. However, please don't tar people who shoot with the same brush as this sadistic moron. We live off what we shoot pretty much - pheasant/partridge/duck/pigeon/venison/goose - and I take pride in the fact our meat is free range, very local and I have prepped and butchered it myself. We try our hardest to ensure we shoot the best we can for a clean kill and I would far rather than than have a freezer full of cheap intensively reared chicken that was slaughtered at 29 days old and travelled around the globe. We have endless respect for our quarry and try our very best to show that respect.

This man is not one of us.

Of course it is completely horrific, but it doesn't seem appropriate to urge non-US citizens to sign a petition aimed at influencing authorities in a US state. So I feel that I have read something appallingly distressing for absolutely no reason.

The animal won't have suffered less for a poster sharing details of the suffering here, and a British website can't contribute to preventing it happening again in the future.

Stop the Press- a wolf has been killed!!!!

Terrible situation but maybe OP can make herself feel slightly less upset about the ONE wolf and consider other situations where our thoughts and attention may be needed..

And you wasted your time opening this thread to post this? You still haven't sold your house an phone to donate to Gaza? Shame on you. Get out there protesting.

Being callous about other horrors doesn't make anyone care about your cause. HTH

Pinkiepromise789 · 28/05/2024 14:41

It's an old thread. The wolf is long gone now.. maybe it's best you get over it?
I do care more for people than animals, there is so many more pressing things to be concerned about than one wolf in America.. honestly, how vacous!

BlackEyesLikeADollsEyes · 28/05/2024 15:03

If posting about one wolf is vacuous, then posting about the posting about the wolf must be doubly so Grin

The thread is 1 month old.

But you're right, animal abuse and torture and future serial killers are no longer of interest to anyone🙄

Pinkiepromise789 · 28/05/2024 15:19

I was replying- which is different to looking up an old thread about a wolf and posting nonsense with suggestions of selling my house 🤣
Glad you're so invested

Er yeah. I don't know what your deal is, but have a nice day. Go do something more productive for your cause.

Maybe you can volunteer at a Wolf Sanctuary? They are in desperate need.. one died last year in America 😢
