Help RAAC impacted students get the exam grades they deserve

My daughter is one of thousands of students whose education has been severely disrupted due to the presence of asbestos or RAAC in schools.

The portacabins that have replaced classrooms across the UK don't provide the essential resources, such as science labs or food tech facilities, that students
need to successfully complete GCSE and A Level coursework.

The impact on the education of thousands of students is undeniable but the Department of Education refuses to give these students exam grades a boost.

Please sign this petition if you believe in equal opportunities for these children who are facing horrendous circumstances beyond their control.

Are they still in portacabins? That's awful! I'll take a look now

Yes. Still in portacabins and the school not reopening until September 2024 earliest.

Thousands of students across the UK have no access to any of the resources they need to compete their coursework. And yet they're expected to sit their GCSEs and compete against kids who've had no disruption to their learning. It's really unfair.

Please sign the petition to get this talked about properly at government level. The DfE is refusing to grant any leniency to students who haven't been able to go into their classrooms since July 2023.

That's appalling

It's hugely affecting so many students. My sons school aren't running most of their extracurricular clubs which are so important at senior school. They're in portakabins and tents and it's disgraceful that no real progress on building work has taken place.

No building work going on at DDs school either. She had a GCSE cooking class last week. In a portacabin with an air fryer. Its laughable.

A school near us had year 8 and 9 out completely until this February! It's an absolute scandal that no one is talking about it!

I'm astounded that this isn't being reported on the national news. It's being kept very quiet despite efforts to get it in the public domain.

Haha, we have only just got 4 portable classrooms and have no science labs. We may have some after Easter.

Before that they have had to squeeze all the students into the rest of the school, teaching in spaces that would normally be used for drama, cooking or even our small dinner hall has been turned into a classrooms. It really difficult for the teachers who have been moving all around the school for each lesson.

No, no actual building work has been done at.our school either. They have spent all this time installing portable classrooms. It's taking so long as they are also fitting them out to be science labs.

The building with the issue is just sitting there empty.

Same at ours... 70% closed with no sign of anyone doing any work. 30 portacabins with no access to science labs, etc...

We've been told September 2024 is the earliest the pupils will be back in school.

How this isn't being plastered across the front of the papers I do not know.
