The dog licence was abolished in the late 80s. I'm guessing you're not uk?

Zombie thread - but nice to see that petition got all of 1244 votes for it 😂

Most dog attacks are actually in the street. Housing estates specifically. There are so many that are not reported either. I've seen several this year and not one was reported or counted towards statistics. The same with on public transport. Dogs off leads on buses is a massive nuisance in my area. Naturally someone got attacked. And police and bus drivers don't care .

I wouldn’t adhere to it because being on a lead all the time is a shitty life for a dog and my lurcher is incredibly well behaved and polite - and he needs to run.

Most people who have dogs have no idea about dog behaviour, how to train them or what they need. I’d get behind a petition to make some regulation compulsory, may be training or licensing but dogs should not be on a lead all the time, it’s cruel and if a person lives somewhere dogs can’t safely be allowed to run then they shouldn’t have a dog.

Unfair on dogs to never be able to run around. We take ours to the woods and the beach off lead. The oldest one never moves from his stick/ball and has no interest in anything except playing catch. The youngest one pretty much sticks to him, but will have a little wander always within touching distance of us. If I see someone on a bike or horse I tell her to sit and she sits, if I call her she comes right back to my side. We also have a large green area next to our house that isn’t used by anyone, even kids, and we often play frisbee out there with them, again they never wander off.

They love their off lead time and are well trained. I wouldn’t take them to a restaurant, we have been to a pub a couple of times after long walks, and they just sit at our feet (on a lead).
