Are you taking the piss? Seriously, have you seen what's happened over the last few years. Fuck, I've never known a government destroy its currency to line their pockets before. Well, not in the UK anyway, Zimbabwe yes and the pound dropped 6% against their currency.
Then the Johnson debacle...

I don’t disagree with you. It’s a total shit show. But what’s the alternative? Labour? Who are advocates of self ID? Honestly I don’t know who’s worse hence my “better the devil you know” comment!

L1ttledrummergirl · 29/09/2022 09:27

The conservatives are doing so much for women...
I'd rather have someone in charge that follows the rules, doesn't lie, doesn't avoid scrutiny.
The self ID issue can be dealt with as/if it comes up. This tory term in office has destroyed the financial security of the nation. So great, we don't have to be concerned about men wanting to be women, but we will freeze and starve whilst not worrying.Hmm

Oh ffs, never underestimate how ill informed Tory voters are.
Have you not been paying attention?
The advance of trans women into women's spaces has accelerated massively UNDER THE TORIES.
Self ID WAS A TORY IDEA.
There are plenty of powerful Tory MPs completely bought into the TWAW ideology.
As far as I can see the biggest push back in parliament against this ideology is Rosie Duffeild, a Labour MP.

And that is just looking at that one issue, if we want to look at wider womens rights, the Tories have been appalling. They've push so many women and children into real poverty and practically legalised rape.

Frankly I’m bored of the “at least the conservatives know what a woman is,” argument that people keep trotting out.

Self ID is an issue which is potentially here to stay, although TBH I’m not actually convinced that it is but that’s another discussion.

But if there is a discussion to be had then it is going to be an ongoing one, regardless of who you vote for.

The problem I have with labour is that they have spent the past 3 years sniping at the tories. Telling them what they’re doing wrong, but at no point have they actually come up with counter policies or ideas as to what they would do in the same situations.

Keir Starmer having made one impassioned speech on Monday does not alter everything. They have a long way to go to convince a large portion of the electorate, and it may be possible. But if we push for an election now then there are a lot of people who still aren’t going to vote for them. And it doesn’t matter that they don’t vote for the tories, if labour don’t get those votes then the tories stand to win again, and then we’ll be here for the next 5 years.

Better to stick it out for another 2 years to let the Labour Party get on track, than to end up with another 5 years

@moonlightglitter signed. I am very concerned for people in England especially this winter. I honestly feel if Labour got in quickly somehow lives would be saved. We are already at around 10% excess mortality in the UK, not directly due to Covid, and if looks like the energy policy isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and could be washed out by the interest rates hike for mortgages anyway. People will literally go cold and hungry this winter. With inflation continuing it’s nothing short of astounding that they would even think of finding ways to cut benefits more.
The petition does seem to be picking up momentum- more people have signed it than have voted for Liz Truss anyway- they will at least have to debate it. It’s at over 170k now
