March for Star Hobson and Arthur Labinjo-Hughes

Hi all,

I'm sure you've all read or heard about the horrific murders of 16-month old Star Hobson and 6-year old Arthur Labinjo-Hughes at the hands of those who were supposed to love, care for and protect them the most.

What makes these cases so utterly tragic is the fact they could have been prevented. Both were failed by the authorities who were responsible for safeguarding them. The social workers who didnt bother to see these children and closed cases despite concerns. The police who threatened family members with arrest if they dared to take these children into their care against the will of the parent. That same parent who was responsible for killing them.

Honestly, my heart is heavy. Lessons have not been learned from the Victoria Climbie and Peter Connelly and Daniel Pelka cases.

Lockdown provided a perfect opportunity for these monsters to carry out their crimes. So much was missed by social workers, schools, police. Justice needs to be done for these children, they need voice to stand up for them and be heard.

Would anyone be willing to peacefully march so that concerns be taken seriously in future? Social workers should be given the proper training, support, powers and funding to deal with cases like these. Police should take each matter seriously. I'll be writing to my MP about these things when I've gathered my thoughts.

Would anyone be interested in marching for these children?

I've never set up anything like this before so I'd anyone could help I'd be grateful. Just feel I need to do something - anything - to make sure these deaths never have to happen again.

Argg sorry that was long.

I'd obviously like to go through the proper channels, it's to be peaceful. Just to highlight the failings in the system and try and spur authorities and the government into action. A review of what went wrong and why. People held accountable. Harsh sentences for people who commit this type of crime. Justice for these babies.

What about starting a petition perhaps with people of influence such as Carrie Johnson, Esther Rantzen, or even Cherie Blair to make the government listen and change the law so that people in authority need to listen to concerns of family and do not dismiss them and threaten them instead. People with a heart would sign it.

I would be interested in a March, and I think the idea of a petition is a very good one too.

I would be interested to join this march and could help to organize it as I've organised events like this before.

Yes to a petition and a March, anything to help things change and to honour those poor, poor children.

These stories have broken my heart. I have a boy the same age as Arthur and I tell him daily how much I love him. I don't live in the UK but I think it would be amazing if you arranged a march to help these kids. WE love you Arthur and Star.

I don't live in England but by God if I did you wouldn't be able to hold me back.

How dare 'they' let those poor children suffer so dreadfully.
Image of Arthur and his little duvet is seared in my brain 😥

Please everyone who can support this march.

I am too severely disabled to march, however I would like to lobby the government to change some aspects of the law in light of these cases. I have been sitting waiting patiently for the trials to finish before I can do so because at the moment the sentencing has not yet been done and we need to see what is decided. But yes, absolutely more needs to be done. Firstly, snacking and physical punishment needs to be illegal. No room for any doubt then - people should report all smacks / etc as abuse. Secondly, sentences for children killed by a parent should be as harsh as those killed by a stranger. The way the law stands at present it compensates parents who have their child killed by a stranger by giving out harsher penalties, whereas they should be protecting the child at the centre of the case and giving the same sentencing regardless of whether that person was known to them or not. I want to campaign for these things.

*smacking obviously!

I wouldn’t want to ban snacking. GrinFlowers

Hi Everyone,
chng.it/8GFcDy79c4

We've all been so moved by Arthur Labinjo-Hughes' story. He was abused after social services ignored his grandmother, please sign our petition so that worried relatives can take abused children into their care within a day.

This is my first petition, all tips and feedback welcomed, lots of love
