Can you help get this to a million signatures? It's very close now. www.change.org/p/help-save-britain-s-hedgehogs-with-hedgehog-highways?use_react=false

Another one blaming the badgers and foxes. Neither have a natural predator.

My garden is wildlife friendly and I get nocturnal visits from a hedgehog.

TheSpottedZebra · 05/07/2021 17:01

Foxes? They don't predate on hedgehogs! It's only badgers that can reliably unroll and eat them.

But the reason for hedgehogs' decline is of course... us. Habitat loss, use of pesticides, road deaths, more hard paving and secure fences, increase in ground flooding...

TheSpottedZebra · 05/07/2021 17:02

Meant to say that although badgers are increasing in numbers, the thinking is that their impact on hedgehogs is still minimal.

Garden strimmers! Thats another hedgehog enemy.

Strimmers are horrible things. Took one to the vets with a horrific injury and had to be put down. She was a mum but luckily all 5 hoglets living under/next to my shed came out a few days later looking for mum and thrived as fully weaned.
