Women's Aid - please support women's refuges by signing this petition

Forgive me for posting on this board - have already added to the FWR section, but I'm hoping as many Mumsnetters as possible can see this.
Many of you will have noticed what is happening to women's refuges and how they are closing whilst funding is being set aside for 'gender-neutral services'.

Women's Aid have launched a petition
'to the government that it requires local authorities to fund women's domestic abuse services/'.

Please could you lend your support to this. There's over 2000 signatures on there now, but they need so many more if this is to be
debated by lawmakers.

I've already signed it and am sending the link to as many people as I can.

This only has 7,754 signatures so far and needs 10,000 before the government will respond.

Surely the extra deaths of women by domestic violence during the last year show how important these services are.

I think at FOJN is right @Skyliner001 The wording on the petition is:

"The Government should recognise that domestic abuse is a gendered crime and women are the majority of victims and the vast majority of severe injury and domestic homicide victims, and require local authorities to fund specific domestic abuse services for women"

It would be better if it said sex-based crime, rather than gendered.
