I dare say there will be significantly more who agree with schools returning.

No.
I refuse to sign something that essentially means huge numbers of women losing or quitting their jobs.

BelleSausage · 22/02/2021 19:47

No- I am a teacher and have concerns about rushed full reopening. But there are a few issues with your plan:

A) Schools were never completely closed.

B) students needs some face to face teaching.

There is another plan that is not either al closed or all open. The government and most of MN are just too desperate to try it.

RoundedTum · 22/02/2021 20:01

Your petition says many children are scared to go back- but most are not and cannot wait to go back. It's no life for many of them being babysat by a screen and learning online whilst their parents try and work from home.

Parents who don't want to send their kids to school can always home educate them- why shut schools for EVERYONE when only some parents don't want to send their kids back?

However, I would support a petition allowing parents to home educate their children for a while without having to de-register them. That would enable those who want to go to school to go and those who want to stay at home for a while to do so as well.

Exactly this

I wonder if the kids that are scared to go to school would be scared to play with their friends.

I know my youngest will have crippling anxiety going back to school, but he really misses his friends. The anxiety of returning is due to the length of time off. The 6 weeks during normal times are a nightmare when theyre over, trying to get him back. Getting him back after the last lockdown was horrendous and just as he was getting comfortable again they shut them.

nevernotstruggling · 22/02/2021 20:06

Kids are scared to go back if their parents have told them to be.

Theunamedcat · 22/02/2021 20:07

Its up to peoples personal preferences of they sign or not I wouldn't blame people if they did want to keep children at home personally im sending mine back

GreenWheat · 22/02/2021 20:09

Oh give over. Some people are so slow to adapt and change it's unreal. I bet they're really disappointed that the vaccine rollout is working.

FredaFlintstone · 22/02/2021 20:10

What a waste of time. Do you think it will actually have an effect?

CeibaTree · 22/02/2021 20:14

OP just home school your child then and let everyone else get on with things.

AlternativePerspective · 22/02/2021 20:14

Children who are scared to go back will have been coached by their parents to be scared.

primary aged children don’t understand the concept of this virus without being told about it, and given we’re in lockdown, the only people who can have fed them that information is the parents.

If children are scared to go back then it’s the parents’ fault.

Housey housey!

Dementedswan · 22/02/2021 20:25

I'm not sending my dc back. But we are cv and still awaiting jabs.

That said, for most people I do think the children need to be back in school, for them, for their parents, economy etc.

Ridiculous,

MiddleEasternMummy · 23/02/2021 10:33

What is wrong with people ! Everyone entitled to their own opinion . I will definitely be sending mine back they have missed enough and I'm personally going out of my mind !!!

TheJerkStore · 23/02/2021 10:51

Everyone entitled to their own opinion

Schools being closed to the vast majority of children is disproportionately impacting women's jobs and careers. That's not an opinion - it's fact!

If you don't want to send your children to school then don't. But not opening schools filly is just going to further disadvantaged women and their ability to work. That makes me very uncomfortable

And climbing.
The thing is, 8th March has been announced now. The only way that there will be a u turn is if cases start to rise catastrophically. I'd suggest you channel your energy into sorting out a solution for you and your child. Nobody should be forced to send their child back to school when they still feel unsafe so maybe tackle that on a personal level and stop trying to take something away from other children and parents.
