Afternoon, I don't even know of this will work. I'm begging people to have a look at this petition. I just want school staff to be safe. I just want us to be able to open schools safely to be able to look after your children. Bubbles constantly closing meaning keyworkers and NHS staff are unable to work. This virus has wiped out myself and 6 colleagues in the past week and the children too. Thank you. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/554316

It's not clear whether this is calling for a high-risk occupation category (including teachers) as the highest category for the healthy u50s, or if you want a new category displacing one of more of the existing clinical risk priority groups.

I would support the former, but not the latter.

Because until we protect the vulnerable, there is little hope of easing restrictions

Signed and shared.

If you want to be selfish about it... look at it this way... if teachers are vaccinated, schools won't have to shut if there are Covid free teachers there to teach them!

Signed. My husband teaches in a large grammar school. There's been multiple cases of COVID and he feels it's just a matter of time before he gets infected there, despite being as careful as he can. Sad

I would also like to know this. If the latter, who do you think should move down the priority list to enable teachers to move up?

SIGNED last week & it was debated in parliament ... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get everyone you know to sign this. It is desperate that schools are closed again. My youngest son is 14 and we live in rural area - he is SAD. This has to be the logical key to getting all our children back to real learning and socialising in schools where they NEED to be! @mumsnet you should be the CHAMPIONS of this - PLEASE!!!

I’m pro special school staff being vaccinated along with nhs staff as they are doing care work but I can’t sign something that’s pro healthy under 50s getting the vaccines before more vulnerable groups. Who would you move down the priority list in order to move teaching staff up.

Vaccination isn’t for individuals, it’s for the country as a a whole. Delaying vaccinations for more vulnerable groups that are more likely to end up in hospital and therefore overwhelm the nhs will prolong lockdown for us all and cause more deaths.

It’s not the risk to teachers that has closed schools. It’s the need to protect the nhs and therefore vulnerable groups by slowing the spread of covid across the community.

Teachers should not be prioritised until all over 50s have been vaccinated.
