I searched but couldn’t find a thread on this already.

I agree with it, especially if your partner lives with you or you have isolated with them. With everything that could be detrimental to society and health of others, this is not one and needs to be changed. And I am an individual who wouldn't be bothered about my partner being there.

peachypetals · 13/09/2020 04:28

You only have to read through some of the threads on here to see how awful some women’s treatment has been during the pandemic. It’s awful.

Bumping this!

I’ve signed this. DH and I will be TTC#2 shortly and ideally would like him to be present during and after the birth!

peachypetals · 13/09/2020 09:41

@bubblybrit good luck. My husband hasn’t been allowed to either 12 or 20 week scan. I hope things change for you by then.

I hope this does something to change things. Also couldn't have DP at 12 week scan.
I caved and paid for a private scan a few days before as I didn't want him to miss the experience (1st and probably only child).
I just hope he can be there for all of labour and afterwards.

EasilyDeleted · 13/09/2020 09:49

Signed. This is so important for the women concerned.

bubblybrit · 13/09/2020 09:50

@peachypetals. I’m certainly not holding my breath but infuriates me how little support there is regarding pregnancy and labour.

peachypetals · 13/09/2020 09:53

Women have been treated appallingly judging by the threads on here. During my 12 week scan it was when things were still really strict so I was more understanding about going alone but since the whole eat out to help out, pubs open and government trying to force people back to the office it just seems awful to still make women suffer alone.

Signed it. Thank you.

ImaSababa · 13/09/2020 10:12

Signed.

DH has just missed out on the first week of his daughter's life, and I had to cope alone on a ward after a traumatic c-section.

peachypetals · 13/09/2020 10:18

@ImaSababa that’s awful. You could share your story more widely?

Of course women shouldn’t have support until they are essentially unable to speak with pain.

It’s far more important that people can go to pubs and spend money.

peachypetals · 13/09/2020 19:42

Exactly!

Torvean32 · 13/09/2020 19:57

I know the rules have changed in some areas. I lnoe somone due in next 2 weeks and their partner can be there the whole time.

KitKatKit · 13/09/2020 19:58

Bumping and signed - I'm due in 5 weeks and am terrified of DH being booted out of the hospital as soon as I've given birth.

peachypetals · 13/09/2020 20:03

I don’t think it’s fair that it varies so much either, postcode lottery. And that applies to scans and appointments too. I went from week 11 to week 28 without seeing a midwife whereas others had all their face to face.

OP posts:
randomsabreuse · 13/09/2020 20:13

Being booted out quickly happened pre Covid if you got your timing wrong (late night birth).

If DH hadn't been there for all of my labour with my induced 2nd he'd have missed it as I go from 2cm (not "active" labour but bloody painful) to 10 cm very quickly (40 minutes) and staff don't necessarily believe you/respond to call buzzers

Notfeelinggreattoday · 13/09/2020 22:53

I agree to men being at whole labour as if there for 2 hrs or 24 risk is spreading covid prob similar but can see why with scans as its about limiting people in the hospital going in and out
Most people going in for appts and procedures have to go in alone now as well
Big difference between 100 going in for an appt or 200 if everyone takes someone in with them
Its not ideal , but my friend has had to go in for scan for reoccurance of cancer and had to go in alone as well due to restrictions

peachypetals · 14/09/2020 08:29

Bumping
