Because of the forthcoming election I have been told - with less than 24hrs notice - that the parliamentary petition I set up will close 3 months early tomorrow (Weds). I am angry and upset Sad and need help to get it to 10,000 signatures (or as close as possible) before midnight so that the next govt. might respond to it.
It got up to 7600 signatures and needs 10,000 to force a response from govt. Please help? Would be eternally grateful if you could sign and share the link below as widely as possible. Thank you all.

Signed, but don't hold your breath. When cancer patients are denied life extending drugs I doubt the government will cave on this one. Conservative voters tend to be better off anyway Sad

The problem you'll have with this is that the government may agree that it should be equal across all areas and the CCGs will then respond by saying fine in that case everyone just gets one round, instead of agreeing that everyone can have 3 (which is, I assume, what the aim would be?)

I will sign it but can you explain what the postcode lottery for IVF is?

moobar · 05/11/2019 19:08

@OrangeTwirlGate nhs IVF cycles depends on wherthe you live. Different criteria and numbers of cycles per different area. Some one, some three etc.

There are guidelines set by national institute for health and clinical excellence and many trusts are failing to operate at the level recommended by those.

Many refuse any nhs treatment if over 40 for example, where the guidelines recommend one cycle. Some even refuse cycles of over 35.

It all comes down to where you live.

Done.

Raindrops17 · 05/11/2019 19:13

Done. It should all be the same. Hopefully it would be more than one cycle, but I would still rather it be one cycle for everyone than someone get refused and someone else get three cycles just because of where they live.

Lockheart · 05/11/2019 19:15

I wish you the best of luck OP but petitions aren't allowed on the main forums; you need to get this moved to petitions.

Hi all

We've received a few reports about this thread so we're going to move it over to our petitions topic now. Flowers

FlamingoAndJohn · 05/11/2019 19:17

Done. I was lucky enough to have 3 rounds funded. It is unfair if everyone doesn’t get the same. Not necessarily 3 rounds but the same.
