Do you believe in the power of mumsnet?

I didnt, now I do.... but my faith is being tested!!

Anyone you love could be hurt or killed by a hit & run driver and the way the law stands it is to the driver's advantage to leave the scene. The very least a law should do is expect people to stop & call for help.

Several of us are trying to get this petition
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/208008 to 10,000. There are only a few days left & we still need 2948 signatures.

Please read the petition & sign it then share widely. This family could be your family Flowers

Let's use the power of mumsnet Star

I’ve learnt that my family and friends feel just as passionately about this as we do, it seems it’s not well known, people assume the law currently protects them and their families in this situation. As soon as they’ve learnt this is not the case they signed the petition straight away.
waddlelikeapenguin and whatsmymethod, your commitment to this is amazing, most would have given up. Thank you for not giving up and I’m sure MN will rally once this important information is known.

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 16/06/2018 23:13

@Waddlelikeapenguin

Have MN been in touch about you posting in the wrong place? Or just moved it?

Asking for a friend Wink

Waddlelikeapenguin · 16/06/2018 23:14

Phoenix76 thank you for sharing that's brilliant Flowers it's quite shocking when you learn that other countries have Samaritan laws & we have this.
It was steak posting that brought it to my attention - i had no idea. I actually thought there was a 'leaving the scene of the accident' crime that had it covered already Hmm
I'm just a lot bit bloody minded when I get going Wink

@PaddingtonBearHardStare they just moved it. I'm sure they posted on the last one to say they were moving it but not this time. No rapped knuckles though so we should keep starting threads

I have @'d them to get the office to sign but no reply Grin

Thank you phoenix . Agree, waddle and co have been fab. There’s been days when I was too upset by the lack of interest to keep bumping, but they have persevered.

Bit gutted MNHQ are sidelining rather than supporting. But I guess until it happens to someone you love it’s a case of ignorance is bliss Sad

I don't even care, they can boot me from the site in morning

nevertwerknaked sounds like you’ve been in it from the beginning too, thank you too. I have been surprised that MN, the power house, haven’t been as behind this as I thought they would. I really really hope that no one finds themselves in this heart breaking situation, here is a chance to change this and where is everybody? It takes seconds to sign. How many members do we have on MN? Surely we’re not the only ones who want things changed?

I signed it yesterday. Lost the thread to post. I really hope it succeeds

Whatsmymethod · 17/06/2018 08:02

Oooh I missed lots last night Smile.

Thanks for the new thread Paddington. I've just been on there.

Like waddle, I thought there was a 'leaving the scene of an accident' law in place.

Steaks original post affected me and I've not been able to drop it. The stories I've read have been so heartbreaking and I just don't know how I would handle what they are having to go through. I just hope they get some justice with this.

10k is still just about do able and more people are helping with shares and bumps Smile thank you.

Come on Mumsnet, why so slow
