To think the high heels petition is not as important as this issue.. TRIGGER WARNING [Title edited by MNHQ]

UN soldiers have been raping and sexually abusing children, and I have not come across much about it in the mainstream media. One girl was forced to have sex with a dog...one girl died as a result of injuries from the abuse...

This hasn't captured people's attention as much..and I guess maybe because it is so sensitive it is harder to people to share and talk about, but that's really letting vulnerable children down so I wanted to post this here.

Anyone got any ideas why this issue doesn't get the attention it deserves? Genuine question, would like to open a debate.

Also I'm asking please will you sign to demand accountability?

137k signatures for the high heels petition and 7k for this one.

You won't be spammed, you just get one confirmation email and that's it.

I have tried to raise signatures in the past for a rather difficult cause as this one. I got far less than you did.

Sometimes people find these issues too much. Give them a fluffy animal that needs help and you will get lots of signatures, talk about rape and abuse at the hands of people meant to be playing the protective role and... It is easier to their backs and pretend the world is a nice place where these things do not happen. People just don't want to bring such reality home by the mere fact of acknowledging it exist.

I was all ready to be sceptical about this, as sometimes I don't think Avaaz is careful enough about its petitions being accurate and fair. But then I read the independent report that is linked to in the petition, and I have changed my mind, and will sign this petition. It seems to be a case of officials at the UN trying to pass the buck rather than showing any concern for the victims (young boys in this case).

I had never heard anything like this before about the United Nations I just follow someone on Twitter who started this campaign (see hashtag #predatorypeacekeepers if interested), it really is utterly shocking and especially due to the nature of their supposed role as "protectors"

Really didn't want to upset anyone by putting the explicit detail in the original post but I wanted to share the part that caught my attention the most, as signatures on petitions really can lead to change, so I'm hoping we can get some more attention on this.
