Mums unite! One minute NHS saving action plan....

Following the appalling events of Friday 11 March (see link at the bottom), take this one minute action plan and save your NHS tonight!
We need proper parliamentary debate as outlined in the NHS reinstatement bill. This was put forward on Friday but most MPs DIDNT EVEN TURN UP!

This is not a done deal. This government does not have the mandate to sell and dismantle our NHS!

Let them wake up to our anger! Let us not have to explain to our children WHY we didn't act.
One minute NHS saving action plan!

If you have one minute....

  1. Sign the following petition "Vote of no confidence in Jeremy hunt." He needs to resign. He's grossly incompetent. If 10000 sign a petition, the government will respond. If 100000 people sign, a parliamentary debate is considered. This has 327000 signatures and is awaiting a debate date.

If you have one minute more.....

  2. Email your MP asking where on earth they were on Friday. Make it clear to your MP that the NHS bill is not going away, and that the debate should receive emergency rescheduling this week.

    Find your MPs email address:
    //www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/

    Email them:
    For example, Dear MP,
You must act to represent me by supporting the NHS bill debate and effect positive change within the NHS.
/I was horrified that..../you did not attend....
    It is imperative that.....

    If you have another minute.....

  3. Pledge £1 to the BMA legal challenge on doctors contracts:

  4. Join 38 degrees. They have integrity!

Lastly share this post/email/tweet with your family and friends

    Thankyou! Dr gillian myers GP

Have signed the petition, too.

Now up to 328,000 signatures. I doubt the Tory majority in Parliament would permit a vote on no confidence in Hunt. But it's satisfying to see how many in the country want it.Grin

BTW, if you'd like MNHQ to remove identifying information from your opening post, you can click "Report" on that post to notify them.

I'm not saying you definitely should, just that some people prefer not to put their details up for grabs. This thread will hang around on t'interwebs forever and a day.

Hmm. Also who would we get next? Think it's been in Hunts job description since the start to be the fall guy perhaps. But he comes across as so ill informed it is indeed very satisfying! The petition gets people engaging! That's what made me so angry the other day. That and the lack of sleep accompanying two small children. While far from perfect, we take our NHS and political systems so for granted. This is what enables the "political elite" to get away with ignoring expert advice time and time again and bad decisions are made. With such unjust consequences for the most vulnerable in society.
Also, I do not want to subsidise Hunts lecture career/private health buissness interests and end up working for him indirectly in the future. I don't want to be pressured into ordering more CT scans to make HIM or lansley more money. I also don't want to increase overdiagnosis, cancer risk and patient anxiety. The latter so often overlooked in facilitating people living meaningful and enjoyable lives. I want to order more CT scans because they are clinically indicated. The fabric of the NHS, it's history and its ethos have been so important in protecting this distinction.
But there's so much positive stuff out there too! Waiting for bbc to upload a really good interview from lunchtime news about men b vaccine debate so I can tweet it (or retweet it? Not sure!)

Also, good tip re details, Many thanks, I will. Are you on Twitter?
Are you a mumsnet blogger? Just seen this whole bit of mumsnet! I know I am a Luddite here but am enjoying my learning process! With very best wishes and thanks for your help

Oh gawd yes, Hunt'll be on the management consultant circuit along with that tick from the civil servant who oversaw the restructuring of the NHS into CCGs. He left for a job at KPMG, which promptly got the first contract to handle handle... CCGs.

Mark Britnell, that was the name. He rocked up in New York advising private companies that "The NHS will be shown no mercy and the best time to take advantage of this will be in the next couple of years."
