Remember the MNer who started an online mag for preteens? Jump Mag?

Some of you must remember Jump Mag - after all, MN is where it started!

I don't know if you have seen it yet, but Jump Mag is looking for some help to take the next steps.

Take a look here: Jump Mag Kickstarter

Ooh. Looks interesting!

Gauchita · 03/06/2014 12:45

Oh, thanks for sharing that, Alex. Off to have a look!

Error123 · 03/06/2014 13:22

Looks good!

OwlCapone · 03/06/2014 13:25

So this is a fund raising thing...?

alexpolistigers · 03/06/2014 13:29

Owl - yes it is. Kickstarter is a funding platform.

It's a kickstarter.

I was just wondering, does anyone else remember the 'Early Times' from the 80s? This reminds me of that a bit - it was aimed at children but not in a patronizing way.

OwlCapone · 03/06/2014 13:32

That should have been made clear don't you think?

I don't think it is within the MN talk guidelines either.

alexpolistigers · 03/06/2014 13:34

Sorry, Owl, I thought Kickstarter was known for being a funding platform.

OP posts:
LRDtheFeministDragon · 03/06/2014 13:35

You need it in the title, alex.

Lesuffolkandnorfolk · 03/06/2014 13:52

I think the ,Jump magazine Kickstarter> in the link is pretty clear. Bigclue there Wink

The best of luck to JUMP!

With all the sexist, narrow and tedious magazine content that appears to be virtually the sole fodder available in the pre-teen general interest magazine market, JUMP! needs ALL the help it can get- not niggling over a tiny thread title issue.

PetiteRaleuse · 03/06/2014 14:15

Ooh I hope this works out. Jump! is excellent. I read it and learn stuff from it myself and am looking forward to my DDs being old enough to enjoy it too.

alexpolistigers · 03/06/2014 14:46

Sorry for not having included it in the thread title. But I did write "kickstarter" in the first post.

PetiteRaleuse My thoughts exactly!

OP posts:
LRDtheFeministDragon · 03/06/2014 14:49

Didn't mean it to come across like that! I just meant that'd be the thing to make it more obvious.

My DN is too little for Jump, but I am glad it's out there for when she's bigger, as at the moment there's quite a lot out there she can enjoy, and I think it's later that everything gets a bit samey.

Is Jump officially related to campaigns like 'Let Toys Be Toys,' btw?

alexpolistigers · 03/06/2014 14:52

Oooh, I don't know, actually, LRD! (re let toys be toys)

We'll have to find out!

OP posts:
alexpolistigers · 03/06/2014 15:01

Re Let Toys be Toys - I don't think it can be officially related, I can't see it there.

OP posts:
Error123 · 03/06/2014 15:36

I don't think they are officially related no.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 03/06/2014 16:13

Ah, ok, thanks.

Both good causes, though.

alexpolistigers · 03/06/2014 16:43

Yes, of course, LRD! I support both of them!

PetiteRaleuse · 03/06/2014 17:33

A great article was on today about quantum theory. I can safely say that it taught me everything i know about quantum physics :o

Gauchita · 03/06/2014 17:47

Yes! Agree Petite. I considered myself taught this morning after reading it :D

I really enjoy their articles; have pledged :-)

PixieofCatan · 03/06/2014 18:01

I love Jump, I read it now and again, not as often as I'd like! I wish I'd had something like it through my pre-teen/teen years.

scallopsrgreat · 03/06/2014 19:07

Love

scallopsrgreat · 03/06/2014 19:09

Love love love Jump! Mag. Follow them on Twitter and their articles are great. Such a refreshing change. Wish I had daughters now! Anyway I've added to the coffers.

alexpolistigers · 03/06/2014 19:13

It's for boys too, scallops! It is girl positive but gender neutral, if you see what I mean!

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 03/06/2014 19:14

I noticed it had changed the for girls stance.
