Company names - singular or plural?

Hi pedants - could I have some advice please?

When writing about a company, is the company name singular or plural?

e.g.
BT reserves the right to...
or
BT reserve the right to...

and

BT has been requested by...
or
BT have been requested by...

By the way the company I need to write about is not BT!

Thanks!

Singular.

I would use singular. But whatever you do, please be consistent. Have lost count of times I've seen/heard things like:

'BT reserves the right to increase prices at any time they choose.'

Thanks! That's what I thought. I find they both sound right when you say them aloud though.

I agree about being consistent - I'm editing a document at the moment (not written by me) which is a terrible mix of both!
