Which do you use (when writing an email)?

Does your choice say something about your age or where you come from?

I use Hello. Am Scottish and 40-ish

Its Hello (or Hi). Why would anyone ever use Hallo or Hullo? I have never ever heard of these last two.

Hello

(south east, late twenties)

i've only ever seen Hullo in Enid Blyton books and the like!

PfftTheMagicDragon · 29/03/2010 21:59

Hello. Unless you are Heidi Klum on Project Runway, then its hAllo!

Shitemum · 29/03/2010 21:59

My BIL uses Hallo and a friend of my dad uses Hullo...

Hello. Unless you are the Rev I M Jolly, in which case it's Hullo, in a most lugubrious tone.

madamefreckle · 29/03/2010 22:06

Always hello to most people but often 'hullo' or 'hallo!' to close friends for effect... not sure what effect though! I think 'hallo' sounds quite up-beat, and yes, 'hullo' quite lugubrious.

madamefreckle · 29/03/2010 22:06

Hiya is actually more of a common one for me!

Hello - I am 36, from NZ.

I, also, have only seen 'hullo' in Enid Blyton books and the first time I say 'hallo' was when a Facebook friend from the Manchester area wrote it.

Annner · 05/04/2010 21:58

Milly Molly Mandy says 'hullo'

I thought that I had imagined its existence - but then rediscovered it while reading MMM to DD.

I tend to use 'hello'
