Is it 'off to a tea' or 'off to a tee'?

Say this a lot but is first time I hav written it.
Wondered is it tea or tee?
And why?!!

I always thought it was "to a T"! No idea why though...

Supposed to be 'T' or tee. something to do with an old english word 'tittle' which sort of morphed into (or means the same as, I forget which) 'detail'.

So if something is 'down to a T' or just 'to a T' it means it's right down to the last detail.

As far as I remember, anyway.
