"...and the weather goes even more wronger in the next few days..."

FFS.

It's quite depressing really.

I predict that in another few generations we will be back to grunting at one another and waving clubs around.

Ugg ogg, grunt, ukk ukk, glug.

I hope it wasn't the BBC?!

Weather forecasts are best watched with the sound off. It cuts out the distracting twaddle.

Heqet · 30/12/2009 20:51

weather forecasts are best not watched at all!

We had inches and inches of snow forecast. Nope. A bit of rain earlier, dry now.

I just wish they'd begin the forecast by saying "This is just a guess, but ..."

The only bit of the weather report that they get right is when they tell you what the weather was like yesterday, last night and earlier today.

Why DO they do that? We were there. We know what the weather was like.

BedfordFallsResident · 30/12/2009 20:53

Heqet - us too....are you nr Shrops?

TigerDrivesAgain · 30/12/2009 20:54

I am sure there's been a thread on this but on the news about a week ago (yes, BBC news but it wasn't a BBC person who said it) there was an item about education and someone from one of the teachers' unions (I think) said: "There are less and less people with these skills".

Less. No. FEWER. you twit.

Ponymum · 30/12/2009 20:58

Did the weather forecaster go on to say "And in case you're bored of this weather now.."?

Bored with! This one is gathering traction. It's just wrong.

Heqet · 30/12/2009 20:58

nope. Derbyshire dales. They are doing badly, aren't they?

Oh tiger, glad I'm not the only one who feels tempted to violence by the whole less v fewer thing.

Oh, I realise you didn't mention anything about violence, but I can hear it in your typing.

TigerDrivesAgain · 30/12/2009 21:06

Violence! Too right. I nearly crashed the car. And then swore for at least 10 minutes. It really really drives me mad. .

Ponymum - "bored of", it's on a par with "should of".

annabelcaramel · 30/12/2009 21:10

But I bet you swore with correct punctuation.

TigerDrivesAgain · 30/12/2009 21:13

Of course. And without any split infinitives or implied split infinitives. That takes some doing, I can tell you! .

Ponymum · 30/12/2009 21:19

Oh no, I think that "should of" is a degree worse. They don't realise that they are saying it simply because it sounds like the word they are supposed to be saying. That is tragic.

TigerDrivesAgain · 30/12/2009 21:22

Is there anyone else on this topic who quails a bit before posting? Just in case you've said "their", not "there", etc AND NOT REALISED?

annabelcaramel · 30/12/2009 22:15

Oh I'm so glad you said that - yes oh yes!!!
