Places you really shouldn't find a rogue apostrophe....

Today I came across a printed sign "DVD's £2 per week".

It was in the library of all places.

Got any worse examples where they should have known better?

The dcs school news letter used to be riddled with them. There are notices at work too. It's a hospital and the notices are for the "patient's" I've been known to go around and secretly scribble out rogue apostrophes when no one is around

Birmingham City Council has plastered posters all over the city encouraging us to use its swimming pool's.

Haven't read all of this, but to the OP: abbreviations like 'DVD' (except not DVD because it's a recent invention) used to be routinely made plural with an apostrophe, as did figures (e.g. 1960's). I'm not sure if the apostrophe was used as a mark of omission because of the abbreviation (to avoid confusion with DVDS perhaps), or to note the change from upper- to lower-case, or from figure to letter. This is no longer the fashion, but I think the librarian should be given the benefit of the doubt. Single letter abbreviations should still be made plural with a apostrophe: "dotting the i's"; "p's and q's".

Have only just discovered pedants'corner - it's like coming home! I worked as a supply teacher in a primary school. On the wall of the hall was a display with the heading "Worker's of the Week". What hope is there?
