Anyone know a GOOD online dictionary/ thesaurus?

I'm really looking for a British English one as I've had it with dictionary.com. Too many pop-ups and crap search results.

Collins do a free one for the Collins English Dictionary here.

Not sure how much detail you need, or how technical your needs are, but some of the best free ones are actually learners' dictionaries (I mean learners of English). For example:

Macmillan English Dictionary

or

Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English

other than that, Merriam-Webster is pretty good, though obviously it's American.

I often use wiki for a dictionary. I've never noticed before but, apparently, it also has a thesaurus.

This might be too late now, but OED (the big 20-vol. dictionary) Online is available through many public library websites. In our authority, you can log on using your library card no. Also true of other Oxford reference titles.
